AWARD Women in Agriculture Leadership Program Fellowship Cohort 2

African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD)

Egypt, Morocco, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Senegal For Mid-career African women scientists working in agricultural research and agrifood systems Deadline Nov 6, 2026

About this opportunity

Overview The second cohort of AWARD's Women in Agriculture Leadership Program Fellowship is a two-year, non-residential programme designed to strengthen the capability, confidence and influence of African women scientists leading climate-responsive agricultural research and agrifood systems. The fellowship is delivered by African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) under the Africa-Australia Partnership for Climate Responsive Agriculture. What fellows receive Selected fellows join a structured mentoring programme in which each participant is matched with a mentor and a mentee. The programme also provides training in leadership and negotiation, gender integration in climate adaptation, science communication and research proposal writing. Fellows become part of a professional network of African women working across agricultural research and agrifood institutions. The official call describes leadership development and mentoring support; it does not advertise a cash award. Who the fellowship is for The call is for mid-career African women agricultural scientists working in national agricultural research institutions, government ministries, universities or international research organisations in Egypt, Morocco, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Senegal. Applicants need at least a master's degree in a relevant discipline and at least seven years of professional experience in agriculture or agrifood systems, including relevant work in gender, agricultural research or programming. Application and selection Applications must be submitted through AWARD's official online portal. Separate English and French application forms are available from the official call page. Applications are reviewed by an expert panel against the qualities sought by the programme. Late applications will not be accepted. The deadline is 6 November 2026 at 23:59 East Africa Time (GMT+3). AWARD will also hold an information webinar for potential applicants on 7 October 2026 at 15:00 East Africa Time.
